Hannah & Mark

Hannah & Mark had a relaxed wedding at Highbury Hall.  This amazing Birmingham council owned buidling has a really gorgeous Gothic style.  Perfect for a couple that based their tables around their favourite TV Series, “What We Do In The Shadows”.

This was such a special wedding for me as I have known Hannah for over a decade. I first met her through Jo from the Couture Company when we did our first ever shoot together and Hannah modelled. Back then she was Jo’s apprentice and I knew she was my kinda human. She is super cool, has a smile for everyone and doesn’t let life get her down.  She’s a gem……and I knew one day she would find a man as wonderful as she is.

Cue Mark!

I’ve only had the pleasure of meeting Mark once before the big day and I instantly loved him.  Not only is he a fellow creative and in to his photography BUT the beaming smile he puts on Hannah’s face just makes my heart happy. He has been there for her through some tough health times and with a fledgling start up business.  He is an absolute rock…..and a bloody nice chap to boot!

Their day was all about everyone being able to relax in a fabulous venue with delicious food.

They even managed to spend the majority of their wedding day actually together! That is a pretty rare thing! Admittedly I might have been tagging along for some of that.

It was an honour to be part of their story, even more so as of course the wonderful legend that is Jo from the Couture Company made the dress and was there to help Hannah get ready, it was such a lovely moment watching her lace Hannah in to her beautiful dress on her actual wedding day! I may have got a little teary…..but don’t tell anyone!

One detail I absolutely loved was that Hannah’s mum asked The Couture Company to embroider a message from Hannah’s late nan from a birthday card she’d received in her handwriting.  It was such a special message and I have it on good authority that it was a wonderful copy of the handwriting.  I can imagine this being quite popular as it’s such a thoughtful hidden detail.

Despite not even owning a dog the dog gods provided me one in the shame of a wedding crasher.  The dog came through the double doors on to the dancefloor right after the first dance…..closely followed by an extremely confused and embarrassed owner. It absolutely made mine and Hannah and Mark’s day.  I wish we could find that owner!

The only sad moment for me was thinking that this could be the very last wedding at this stunning venue that I have enjoyed shooting many times.  Certainly an emotional day for the team.  I still have everything crossed that somehow they get the funding to carry on! Any lottery winners out there??
