A Winter Wedding at West Mill Wedding in Derby

When Claire and Matt got in touch they told me they wanted a relaxed, informal, quirky day full of laughter, music, booze and fun and boy did they pull it off!
 
They first met me many years ago…..about 7…….when I photographed the gorgeous Nat and Al’s wedding where Matt was the best man. 5 years later there they were planning their own wedding and they dropped me an email to see if I was free. Now you can imagine the huge grin on my face that they remembered me and that they got in touch.
 
It was an absolute honour to be part of their day, it was everything I knew it would be. They made sure there was plenty of entertainment, food and drink…..what more can you possibly need?
 
They booked one of my favourite venues The West Mill Exclusive Use Wedding Venue for their day as they fell in love with the industrial feel of the place. Having shot a few weddings there I am always thrilled to be back because I know it’s a fabulous venue and everything runs like clockwork!
 
I absolutely adored their decorations, the floral displays from Pretty Pricks absolutely blew my mind…..bright colours and disco balls hell yeah!! Then add in the painted skull place settings in neon colours and I was happy as a pig in……well you know!
After the ceremony they had a fantastic Mariachi band to entertain the guests while we made the most of the daylight to get some shots.
A particular highlight for me was the speeches……there were some very interesting tales from the best men and Matt finally wrote Claire a song…..and it was absolutely perfect!! You know you do learn a lot about the couple during speeches and these just made me love these guys even more!
 
During the evening they had a cabaret hour performed by the fabulous Cunning Stunts Cabaret where they combined danger with titillation and also some stunts that were specifically designed to make peoples faces do funny things!
After all of that shenanigans it was time to hit the dancefloor and I have to say I was loving the DJ’s fusion of 90’s hip hop in to a bit of basically whatever any of the guests crazy brains could come up with…..it was awesome!
