Joshua & Ariel
Joshua & Ariel held their alternative wedding at the Liberal Jewish Synagogue in London. It was a day of pure love and celebration held smack bang between Christmas and New Year and it was an absolute joy to be a part of.
We started the coverage with their couple shots, as it was deep in December and a late afternoon ceremony we wanted to catch some natural light before the dark cozy night set in. They told me they predominantly booked me for the candid shots but we had an absolute blast creating some lovely couple shots before the ceremony and in the dark!
They are both creative and wanted to embrace that by adding DIY touches to the decorations. They went for an under the sea theme which included a handmade reef, themed table decorations, wedding favours of sand collected from the beach in France where they got engaged and last but absolutely not least a hand made Chuppa which was absolutely stunning.
The ceremony was so personal and emotional as well as funny and not for the first time I pondered how much I love Jewish wedding ceremonies. They are so full of joy and celebration.
Obviously this was followed by lots of high energy Jewish dancing and of course I absolutely HAD to get right in the middle of it all. You can’t sit on the sidelines with this stuff…..injury risk be damned I wasn’t chickening out of this one!
The speeches, which were all very personal and emotional, told the tale of two young men absolutely in love, living in different countries with the odds stacked against them who fought hard to be together and are now an extremely strong union. Each looking after the other as part of a team with their beloved cat Daisy. Sadly Daisy couldn’t attend in person, but a cardboard cut out was pride of place!
A highlight for me was when Joshua’s dad had a piano wheeled in and he performed a very special song to everyone and Joshua got up and joined him. What a wonderful moment for them all to look back on.
What an amazing day, I left feeling just full of happiness and love. Look through the pictures and you’ll see exactly what I mean!
