So what can I say about Holly and Gary’s stylish wedding in Witney, Oxfordshire….well….it was beautiful.
I had the pleasure of watching two lovely friends get married but also the honour of being their photographer. Holly and Gary really are amazing together. As individuals they are both pretty different but their differences seem to balance out perfectly and I have to say…..as a couple they are even better than they are individually!!
I always thought shooting their day would be tough…..you see Gary has a very keen eye (artistically speaking) and he knows what he likes but thankfully we seem to see the world in a similar way (well if not I guess we’ll find out after these sneak peeks are up hey Gary!! Lol!!) but actually they both were so easy going on the day they just made it a dream (*phew*).
Holly got married in her parents home, the home she grew up in, surrounded by reminders of her youth. I felt it made it more symbolic, preparing to set off on her new adventure.
They chose to get married at the church where Holly’s parents married (which made it even more special) before heading to Witney Lakes for the reception. Opting for a low key vibe they chose to have a BBQ for their wedding breakfast….which was delicious.
As I mentioned Gary is a pretty creative guy and used to be the front man for the UK’s leading Blur tribute band Blurred so he certainly has strong creative vibes. With this in mind we opted for edgier couple shots and headed out on an adventure to some local spots that others may never think of for pictures.
Special thanks to Trevor and Mary (Holly’s parents) who not only have been an inspiration to Holly all these years but who have kept my hubby gainfully employed as well as treating him like a son. P.S. Sorry Trev for making you pose for the camera 🙂

Jess and Guy had an amazing, romantic Winter wedding in Oxford….my home city!!
It’s not often I work so locally so it was really lovely to head over to the dreaming spires for their gorgeous, romantic Winter wedding.
Not many people opt for a Winter wedding but I have to say it suited the feel of their day perfectly and we couldn’t have hoped for better weather.
I for one love a Winter wedding….mostly because I too had a Winter wedding. There is something special about that Winter light that I just adore.
Jess had a gorgeous bespoke dress from The Couture Company Designer wedding gowns (isn’t it a dream!!!) and accessorised with my some butterflies in her hair from my lovely Sister in Law over at Liliia by Vikki Lafford Garside and a shawl and gloves she knitted herself!!
Guy opted for a beautifully fitted tuxedo. I always say not every man can pull off a tux but Guy certainly did!!
These two lovebirds met in Oxford and despite living many miles away now chose to come back to the city to celebrate the friendship and love that began there. They were married at Oxford Town Hall (isn’t it stunning!) and then headed over to the quirky art space The Jam Factory for their celebration.
We of course headed off for couple shots which included grabbing an ice cream as a nod to Guy’s beloved grand mother who sadly couldn’t make the journey over from the States. Then they danced in the street to a busker with a sense of humour (think bridal march followed by the death march!!).
After a delicious meal they hit the dance floor with aplomb…..choosing to Lindyhop to their amazing band The Black Sheikhs (seriously….check them out!!!). It was a day full of tears of joy and just an utter outpouring of love that it made me feel extra lucky that in a week where the news has been dominated by a show of anything but love I get to be part of something so special!!

Saturday it was Jenny and Jason’s turn to get married and looking back on it there is only one word I can use to describe the day. Joyful. Literally full of joy. Everyone there totally love these guys and the day was a pure celebration of that.
They opted for a woodland wedding in the Cotswolds and I think they totally pulled off the magical woodland feel. They have some truly amazing talented, creative friends who helped them. From a flower team, two amazing hair dressers, incredible musicians (lots of them as Jason is also a musician) and a fire dancing bridesmaid. This wedding couldn’t have been more of a celebration of love.
The standout thing for me really was the music, every part of the day had an incredible soundtrack and the guests even joined in to a Bob Marley sing along after the ceremony.
Oh and I got to see the lovely Janey and Pete whose wedding I had the honour to be part of last year (there were MANY hugs).
An amazing day for two amazing people, thank you to everyone that helped make it what it was!

On Friday was the super rainy but incredibly beautiful wedding of Helen and Hywel. Both being from farming families I knew these guys would not let a bit/lot of rain get them down and it didn’t…..I have no words for how amazing these guys are.
Even though it affected some of their plans they totally threw themselves in to their amazing day and everyone had a great time. People just threw themselves in to the party spirit…..including Helen’s grandad who even seranaded me and Katie on our lunch break with some Elvis amongst others.
I have to say that having Welsh family I loved the Welsh touches on the day, like the delicious Welsh cakes made by Hywel’s mum that were handed out after the ceremony….mmmmm!!
Being a massive animal lover I was grinning from ear to ear as I got to hang out with their lovely little dogs in the morning and they even made it to the ceremony, also I got to have a chat with Helen’s amazing rare breed sheep. You’ll notice there were lots of little sheep dotted around in the decorations, they were made by another bride of mine, Sharelle from Apple Tree Weddings and Events and were amazing!!
Oh and I got to see the lovely Lauren and Matt again, I shot their farm wedding a few years back and it was lovely to see that they are as in love now as on the big day!!
All in all it was a brilliant day, I had a lot of fun splashing around in the rain and I am totally not going to apologise for the massive amount of dog pictures!!

Yesterday I turned up to my couple shoot with expectations.
I expected to meet a couple who have been through a hard time.
I did not expect to meet a couple with a bond so strong that nothing can shake it, I did not expect to feel like I had made two new friends and to feel like Barbara was part of my family (she does look very much like my lovely Aunty!!).
Barbara entered my competition months ago for a free shoot. When I received her entry I knew I had to choose her. Barbara has fought aggressive breast cancer and won, during that process she realised that she didn’t have any photos of her and her amazing husband Simon since their wedding day. So she asked me if I would shoot them after her hair had grown back and she was feeling confident again. How could I say no!!
As we wandered through the streets of Burford she told me that since recovering she has been running events to help fundraise for Breast Cancer Care. She told me that she was not doing it for women like her (she considers herself lucky because of her amazingly supportive family and friends) but for the single mum with two kids who is alone, for the 80 year old lady who gets the diagnosis and catches the bus to her empty home….for the people who really need the support. Then I fell in love with her just that bit more.
She is an inspiration. From getting the diagnosis she has talked openly about it, raising awareness, hoping that it’ll stop those women (and men….they can get it too) who come in to contact with her and get them to check.
I wanted their photos to show what a loving and strong couple these guys are…..I really didn’t expect to find two lovely friends from this.
Thank you so much Barb and Simon for giving me a wonderful, inspirational few hours. If anyone would like to help Barbara reach her target of £1500 for Breast Cancer Care please take a moment to donate through her Just Giving page https://www.justgiving.com/barbaradevey
